Meeting of Lukashenko, Putin in Sochi described as productive, sincere

MOSCOW, 24 February (BelTA) – The meeting of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Russia President Vladimir Putin which took place in Sochi on 22 February was productive and sincere, Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov told reporters on 24 February, BelTA has learned.

“In general the meeting was very useful, very timely, productive and sincere. The president of Russia speaks in positive terms about its results,” Dmitry Peskov said.

In his words, the heads of state mostly spoke about the expansion and improvement of economic cooperation. “Indeed, there was a certain pandemic-related decline in the trade turnover and in the economic dimension. Therefore, right now it is essential to step up efforts to make up for this decline and to put all major indicators on a growth trajectory. The two presidents said that it was important for the economic agencies to step up efforts and to focus on interaction in the tax industry,” the representative of the Kremlin said. In his words, the tax agencies and the heads of government will hold consultations on the matter in the near future.

“The presidents also discussed the coordination of efforts between law enforcement agencies, including the defense ministries. These agencies will hold consultations soon, the defense ministers will have a conversation,” Dmitry Peskov added.
