MINSK, 21 January (BelTA) – Both partners and opponents of Belarus are gradually starting to understand what Belarus is about, former Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Martynov told the ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“In my opinion, our partners and opponents are gradually starting to understand the essence of our country. This is a country that does not want to profit from the fruits of others, that does not want to live at someone else's expenses and that pursues its own interests. This is a country which is fully prepared to be self-sufficient, to help neighbors and friends, to be a donor of security. ‘Donor of security', by the way, is the expression we coined 15-20 years ago. It is used more and more often now, which means that others have started to understand this concept,” Sergei Martynov said.
He also answered the question about the main results of the centennial existence of the Belarusian Diplomatic Service. “The most crucial result is the rise of an independent Belarusian state as well as its further development thanks, in large part, to our foreign policy which is based on the multi-vector principle and national interests. For the past 100 years and the 25 years of the new sovereignty, Belarus has become a modern, powerful state to be reckoned with,” the former minister noted.
