Makei, Lebedev discuss Belarus' presidency in CIS in 2021

MINSK, 21 December (BelTA) - Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei met with Chairman of the Executive Committee - Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Sergei Lebedev following the decisions taken at the meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The parties paid special attention to the goals and objectives of Belarus' presidency in the CIS in 2021, and discussed the schedule of promising multi-level contacts and events in the organization.

Vladimir Makei informed Sergei Lebedev about Belarus' preparations for the forthcoming presidency, including the draft concept of the Belarusian presidency and its action plan. The minister said that the focus would be made on the integration processes in the CIS and the EAEU and implementation of projects in the knowledge-intensive industries.

The parties agreed to include promising proposals voiced at the meeting of the CIS Heads of State Council in the documents of the Belarusian presidency.

The parties also discussed other topical issues of multilateral cooperation in the CIS.
