MINSK, 12 June (BelTA) – Belarus values the high level of cooperation with UNESCO and sets great store by its work in Belarus, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chair of the National Commission for UNESCO Vladimir Makei said as he met with Nada Al-Nashif, Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences at UNESCO, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The parties discussed joint efforts of Belarus and UNESCO to preserve and promote tangible and intangible heritage and collaboration as part of UNESCO research programs. They also discussed cooperation prospects, including the implementation of the project to study the basins of the Bug and Neman trans-boundary rivers in 2020-2021 and events to mark the 150th anniversary of artist Ferdinand Rushchits in 2020.
The minister thanked the UNESCO representative for finding time to attend the opening ceremony of the 2nd European Games. He emphasized the important role of sports and sport diplomacy in building trust and understanding between peoples and in preventing international conflicts.
Nada Al-Nashif underlined that UNESCO will keep taking an active part in projects and events implemented in Belarus.More about Politics
