Lithuanian accusations of border violation by Belarusian helicopter dismissed as unsubstantiated

MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) – Accusations voiced by the Lithuanian side are unsubstantiated and politically biased. The International Military Cooperation of the Belarusian Defense Ministry made the relevant statement in the ministry's Telegram channel, BelTA has learned.

According to the source, on 24 August Lithuania accused the Belarusian side of violating the Lithuanian air space by a Belarusian army helicopter. The helicopter stopped a violation of the Belarusian border in air space from the Lithuanian side on 23 August. Representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry met with the defense attachй of the Embassy of Lithuania in Belarus on 24 August. The Lithuanian diplomat was told that the Belarusian side needed to see proof that the Lithuanian border had been violated.

Data, which was recorded by objective control equipment and which proves the Belarusian helicopter had not violated the Lithuanian border, was handed over by the Belarusian embassy in Lithuania to the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 25 August. In turn, as of 16:00 on 26 August the Lithuanian side has yet to present its objective control data concerning the incident.

This is why the Belarusian Defense Ministry views Lithuanian accusations as unsubstantiated.
