MOSCOW, 16 January (BelTA) – Holding the presidency in the Eurasian Economic Union in 2018 Russia sought to strengthen the international positions of the union, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at his annual press conference for Russian and foreign journalists, BelTA has learned.
“Great attention was attached to the efforts to align the EAEU and the Chinese Belt and Road initiative,” Sergei Lavrov said.
The minister recalled the Russian initiative to develop a large Eurasian partnership that involves a strategic partnership with the ASEAN. “This initiative is based on the logic of harmonizing the integration processes which will be open to accession for all countries and their associations both in Asia and in Europe,” Sergei Lavrov said.
