MOSCOW, 24 August (BelTA) – The initiative of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko to conduct a constitutional reform in Belarus has good prospects, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at the Terra Scientia National Educational Youth Forum in Solnechnogorsk, Moscow Oblast, on 23 August, BelTA has learned.

“We believe that one should not push for any recipes. President Lukashenko has repeatedly called for a dialogue as he has met with labor collectives recently. This pertains to the dialogue on the constitutional reform, too. In our view, this path holds a lot of promise,” Sergey Lavrov said.

According to him, the situation in Belarus is obviously going back to normal, however, not everyone likes it. “Belarusian people will decide for themselves how they will handle this situation. I think that those visible signs of normalization are absolutely important. I am fully aware that some people do not like it, they want to turn these normal, peaceful developments into violence, provoke bloodshed and implement the Ukrainian scenario,” he emphasized.

“Our approach is very simple: this is a domestic matter of Belarus. Belarusians are a wise nation and they are absolutely capable of handling this situation on their own. The most important thing is to prevent provocation of unrest from outside,” Sergey Lavrov said.
