NUCLEAR POWER IN BELARUS AND WORLDWIDE
MINSK, 21 April (BelTA) - Laos is a reliable ally of Belarus in the ASEAN region, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Valery Mitskevich said as he met with Chairman of the Economy, Technology and Environment Committee of the National Assembly of the Lao People's Democratic Republic Linkham Douangsavanh on 20 April, BelTA has learned.
"One of the main lines of activities of the parliament is to develop inter-parliamentary relations, and in this regard, cooperation with Laos, our reliable ally in the ASEAN region, has always been a priority for us," Valery Mitskevich said.
According to him, there are no controversial issues in relations between Minsk and Vientiane. "Belarus and Laos are open, honest, peace-loving partners, and we have similar goals, namely economic development and well-being of our citizens. I am confident that today's meeting is a good opportunity to discuss the state of Belarusian-Lao relations and promising areas for their development," the vice speaker said.
The parties exchanged views on the development of Belarusian-Lao relations, interaction in the international arena, including within the framework of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
