MINSK, 27 February (BelTA) – Belarus is not afraid of any sanctions, because it has the support of a number of countries, Chair of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly Natalya Kochanova said as she met with a Cuban delegation headed by Cuba's First Deputy Minister of Public Health Tania Margarita Cruz Hernandez, BelTA has learned.

“Our countries maintain friendly relations thanks to the diplomatic efforts, first of all, visits at the highest and high levels. Most importantly, our presidents helped establish friendly relations between the countries,” said Natalya Kochanova. “We support each other. Inter-parliamentary contacts are of great importance for us, and these contacts have been particularly vibrant recently. At the end of last year, we hosted the president of the National Assembly of the People's Power of Cuba. During my meeting with the ambassador, healthcare was among key issues on the agenda,” she added.

This visit shows that all the agreements between the two countries are being implemented as planned, the speaker noted. “It is hard to overestimate the importance of these efforts, especially in this difficult time when your country and Belarus found themselves on the receiving end of the sanctions. We are not afraid of any sanctions, because there are countries that are friends with us. The mutual interest suggests that there is no limit to our friendly relations in absolutely all areas,” Natalya Kochanova emphasized.
