
MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) - Today Minsk is hosting the year-end meeting of the CIS Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives. The agenda includes seven items. This suggests that we have something to discuss, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee – CIS Executive Secretary Sergei Lebedev told reporters, BelTA has learned.
The main item is the results of Kazakhstan's CIS chairmanship in 2022, Sergei Lebedev noted. “Being the chairman of the CIS Executive Committee I would like to say that the results are not bad,” he said.
"After the coronavirus-related hiatus, when we could not meet in person for a long time, our Kazakhstan friends were able to hold a number of face-to-face events in Kazakhstan. They were very productive. Very important documents were adopted to promote cooperation within the CIS,” he added. “Today the Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the CIS, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Belarus Askar Beisenbayev will make a report about this. We, accordingly, will express our opinion, talk about what has been done and what remains to be done. "
Permanent representatives of the CIS countries are set to discuss the issues related to the second CIS Games. The tournament will feature 20 sports and will be held in Belarus from 3 to 15 August 2023. The expected number of participants - athletes, coaches, referees, medical personnel and other persons - is about 3,000. Competitions are proposed to be held in Minsk, Borisov, Soligorsk, Molodechno, Brest, Orsha, Zhlobin, Grodno, and Mogilev.
The Council is expected to sum up the 2022 results and outline work plans for the next one, taking into account the priority tasks of the CIS development.
The plan of action to the CIS development concept and proposals for the draft agenda of the next meeting of the CIS Ministerial Council will be on the agenda too.
