Japarov: EAEU promotes international contacts, creates new free trade areas

BISHKEK, 9 December (BelTA) – The EAEU continues to build international contacts and expand trade relations with its long-standing partners, Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Japarov said at the meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Bishkek, BelTA has learned.

“This year we continued to actively develop the international dimension of the EAEU and expand trade relations with our long-standing partners. A protocol on the establishment of a free trade area with the Islamic Republic of Iran came into force. Free trade negotiations with the Republic of Indonesia have begun. The initiative to start free trade negotiations with the UAE has also been supported,” Sadyr Japarov said.

“I am very pleased that the geography of interests of our union is expanding. I view this as a clear sign of the recognition of the EAEU as a dynamically developing organization in the global economic architecture. As the financial and economic power is shifting to Asia, we should retain our focus on this region,” he said.

The leaders of the EAEU member states plan to approve the main areas of the EAEU activities for 2023, and specify key vectors and practical priorities.
