Introduction of European sanctions against Belarus on eve of 22 June described as dishonorable

MOSCOW, 23 June (BelTA) – The European Union's introduction of sanctions against Belarus on the eve of the 80th anniversary since the day the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 began is dishonorable for the European Union, BelTA learned from Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on 23 June.

The official said: “On these days when the entire world recalls how Hitler's Germany launched an assault against the Soviet Union from western borders of Belarus 80 years ago, one cannot but draw rather obvious and tragic parallels. As a matter of fact, they are tragic for the Western world and for the European Union in this case. It was dishonorable.”
