MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) - Interregional cooperation has become a new growth point in the relations between Belarus and China, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Xie Xiaoyong said at the opening ceremony of the Belarus-China Year of Regions, held at the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 26 August, BelTA has learned.
According to the diplomat, the Year of Regions envisages over 100 events, not only in the economic sector, but also in science and technology, education, healthcare and other areas.
“Interregional cooperation is now becoming a new growth point in cooperation between our countries. Along with the development of interstate relations, we should strengthen cooperation at the regional level in order to mobilize the full potential of cooperation in various areas,” Xie Xiaoyong said.
Speaking in general about economic cooperation with Belarus, the Chinese ambassador hailed good results achieved over the past year. Trade between the countries has increased despite the negative impact of the pandemic and the overall passivity of the global economy. Mutual trade continued to expand in H1 2021.
