Interest in Belarus growing in Netherlands

MINSK, 10 March (BelTA) – Belarus' Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas met with Charge d'Affaires of the Netherlands to the Republic of Belarus, the Head of Minsk Office of the Embassy of the Netherlands Erik-Jan van Oosterhout in Minsk on 10 March, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The parties discussed the cooperation of Belarus and the Netherlands in multilateral diplomacy matters and humanitarian affairs. The deputy minister expressed gratitude for the Dutch humanitarian projects in Belarus, including those on skills improvement and exchange of experience of professionals in medicine, recuperation of health of Belarusian children in the Netherlands.

“The chargé d'affaires noted that the interest and attention to the development of relations with Belarus has significantly increased recently,” the ministry said.

The parties expressed mutual interest in considering project cooperation between the two countries to promote the progress towards the sustainable development goals. The deputy minister emphasized the importance of such step in the context of the expected adoption of the National Strategy for Sustainable Development until 2035.

The deputy minister and the chargé d'affaires exchanged views on other possible ways to expand comprehensive cooperation between the two countries, including in the field of sustainable energy, business and cultural exchanges, and agreed on mutual initial steps in this direction.
