Intention to organize CSTO peacekeeping exercise in Kyrgyzstan confirmed

BISHKEK, 10 March (BelTA-Kabar) – Kyrgyzstan President Sadyr Japarov has confirmed the intention to organize the Collective Security Treaty Organization's military exercise Indestructible Brotherhood 2023 in the country's territory, BelTA has learned.

The Kyrgyzstan president met with CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov. Matters concerning ways to ensure regional security and stability, priority avenues of interaction within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization were discussed during the meeting.

Sadyr Japarov remarked that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to cooperation within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization as a guarantor of security in the region. With a view to coordinating military, informational, and humanitarian measures in 2023 Kyrgyzstan intends to host the Indestructible Brotherhood 2023 exercise for peacekeeping forces of the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

The head of state noted that international terrorists, who had acquired combat experience and sabotage experience in flash points, may still roam various countries. This is why it is necessary to step up the relevant efforts in order to respond and prevent possible destructive manifestations in a timely manner.

Sadyr Japarov also pointed out that today the Collective Security Treaty Organization should advance partnerships with such international organizations as the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the United Nations Organization, and other ones. He said that Kyrgyzstan is interested in enhancing the role of and respect for the CSTO. The organization has great capabilities for enabling conditions for ensuring national security of the CSTO member states, he said.

The Kyrgyzstan president mentioned the importance of working together to step up the advancement of regional cooperation in all aspects of competence of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, to build up potential as a military and political international organization able to promptly respond to challenges and threats to security.
