MINSK, 23 January (BelTA) – Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi might visit Belarus this year, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Belarus Sangeeta Bahadur told a press conference on 23 January, BelTA has learned.
According to the ambassador, there was not any exchange of visits between Belarus and India in 2019, “however we want to make up for it this year”. There will be visits at the level of ministers, as well as Belarus-India ministerial consultations.
“We hope that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will deliver on his promise to Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko and will come here, too,” the Indian diplomat noted. She explained that the visit that was due to take place in 2019 was postponed because of the elections in India.
“As far as bilateral political contacts are concerned, India and Belarus have always maintained cordial and friendly relations,” Sangeeta Bahadur said.
