Heads of parliamentary commissions appointed in Belarus

MINSK, 12 December (BelTA) – Heads of 14 standing commissions have been appointed at the House of Representatives, the lower chamber of the Belarusian parliament, BelTA has learned.

The Standing Commission on Law will be chaired by Svetlana Lyubetskaya. She was judge of the Supreme Court before election to the parliament.

The Standing Commission on State Building, Local Government and Regulations will be led by Valentin Semenyako who used to chair the Zelva District Council of Deputies.

The Standing Commission on National Security will be presided by former chief of the General Staff of the Belarusian Armed Forces Oleg Belokonev.

The Standing Commission on Economic Policy will be led by Leonid Brich, while the Standing Commission on Budget and Finance will be chaired by Lyudmila Nizhevich. Both worked in the parliament of the previous convocation.

Nikolai Shevchuk, former Chairman of the Polotsk District Executive Committee was appointed Head of the Standing Commission on Agricultural Policy.

Nikolai Vasilkov will chair the Standing Commission on Environment, Natural Resources and Chernobyl Catastrophe. He worked in the parliament before.

Chairman of the public association Belaya Rus Gennady Davydko will lead the Standing Commission on Human Rights, National Relations and Mass Media.

Igor Marzalyuk was re-elected as Chairman of the Standing Commission on Education, Culture and Science.

Lyudmila Kananovich will lead the Standing Commission on Labor and Social Affairs. She was deputy chair of this commission in the parliament of the previous convocation.

Lyudmila Makarina-Kibak will lead the Standing Commission on Health, Physical Culture, Family and Youth Policy. She held the same position in the parliament of the previous convocation.

Igor Komarovsky was elected Chair of the Standing Commission on Industry, Fuel-Energy Complex, Transport and Communication. He was deputy chair of this commission before.

Former Vitebsk Mayor Viktor Nikolaikin will lead the Standing Commission on Housing Policy and Construction.

Former Belarus' Ambassador to Turkey Andrei Savinykh will chair the Standing Commission on International Affairs.
