German MPs seek closer twinning relations with Belarus

BERLIN, 23 November (BelTA) - Further development of the Belarusian-German twinning cooperation was discussed in the German Bundestag during a meeting of the Belarusian delegation headed by Boris Batura, Chairman of the Belarusian public organization Twinned Cities, with representatives of the German parliamentary friendship group with Belarus, BelTA has learned.

The German MPs expressed great interest in further development of twinning contacts and inter-parliamentary relations with Belarus. Member of the parliamentary friendship group Thomas Lutze named Belarusian-German twinning relations as productive. He expressed support for these ties and emphasized that the upcoming twinning meeting in Wittenberg is very important for the friendship between Belarus and Germany.

They also discussed the development of inter-parliamentary bilateral contacts. German MPs informed about the exchange of visits with Belarusian counterparts and the mutual intention to raise inter-parliamentary cooperation to a new level.

The Belarusian delegation arrived in Germany to participate in the 10th meeting of the twin cities of Belarus and Germany in Wittenberg.
