Georgian prime minister to come to Belarus on official visit

MINSK, 22 August (BelTA) – Georgia Prime Minister Mamuka Bakhtadze will come to Belarus on 23 August on an official visit, the press service of the Belarusian government told BelTA.

The Georgian prime minister is expected to meet with Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Rumas and Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko.

Mamuka Bakhtadze will also visit the automobile engineering company MAZ where he will be made familiar with the company's product choice.

In H1 2019 Belarus-Georgia trade totaled $37 million, with Belarus' export at $25.4 million and import at $11.6 million. Belarus' main exports to Georgia this year include synthetic yarn, milk and dairy products, medications, electric transformers, cables, and wires. Belarus imports from Georgia such products as mineral water, alcohol beverages, nuts, and oil products. In January-May trade in services rose by 17.9% to $9.2 million, with export at $7 million and import at $2.2 million.

As many as 17 companies with Georgian capital, including 11 joint ventures, operate on the Belarusian market. There are over 20 representative offices, daughter enterprises, and distributors of Belarusian companies in Georgia.
