MINSK, 20 February (BelTA) – The U.S. policy is leading to the collapse of Europe, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives, Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus Oleg Gaidukevich told BelTA commenting on the visit of U.S. President Joe Biden to Ukraine.
“Biden has flown to Kiev and he has not made a single statement about peace. If Biden wanted peace in Kiev, he would have called to embark on peace talks tomorrow or even today after he arrived in Kiev and met with Zelensky. The Ukrainians should stop dying. How many Ukrainians have died this year so that America's interests would prevail in the world? But what have we heard from him? They say they are great, they are supplying weapons. They will continue to supply them. What is the second thing he has said to Zelensky? He has given him instructions showing that Zelensky is not independent. He tells him to continue the war to the last Ukrainian. He actually says it. And then he addresses Europe like he calls the shots in the European Union. Where is the independence of Europe? They should have thrown him out of Kiev and Warsaw, because he wants to see entire Europe on fire,” said Oleg Gaidukevich.
According to the MP, if the European leaders listened to the president of Belarus, there would be peace. “Because our president urged to sit down at the negotiating table. This is our European continent. We all live here. We should all be interested in stopping the bloodshed, the war,” he noted. “And today we have seen that not only Ukraine is dependent, but the whole of Europe is dependent. After that Biden will go to Warsaw and will tell European leaders to give their all to the war. And things will get worse. They will give away all their weapons, tanks, and then they will buy new weapons from the Americans with their own money and taxpayers' money, new tanks, gas, oil - they will buy everything from America. So where is this policy leading? It is leading to the collapse of Europe. Therefore, we will go on with our peaceful policy. Everything that we are doing, including strengthening of the Armed Forces - is aimed at ensuring that there is no war, that we are strong, that they stay away from us,” he said.
Oleg Gaidukevich emphasized how well-timed the interview of the president of Belarus to foreign media was. “Our president said everything. If they heard him, if the Europeans were allowed to listen to the truth that Lukashenko tells, then peace would come faster. And the United States does not need peace. They want Europe to be on fire for decades while they will be getting richer. Belarus, Russia are interested in peace. And we would like Europe to be interested in it. Ordinary Europeans want peace. The problem is that the European elites are not independent and cannot make the right decision. And the right solution is peace, negotiations and no war,” the MP said.
