French senators to visit Belarus in April

MINSK, 20 March (BelTA) – French senators plan to visit Belarus in April 2019. The organization of the visit was discussed at a meeting of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France Igor Fisenko with members of the Senate's France-Belarus Friendship Group, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy.

The parties discussed the plans to develop Belarusian-French relations in 2019, including bilateral parliamentary meetings, cultural cooperation, and the organization of economic events.

“The focus of the meeting was also on the forthcoming visit of French senators in Belarus which is planned for April 2019. This will be the first visit of members of the France-Belarus Friendship Group set up in the Senate of France in 2018 and also the first bilateral visit of the delegation of the upper house of the French parliament to Belarus,” the embassy said.

Attending the meeting on France's behalf was head of the Friendship Group Charles Guene and also members of the group: Chairman of the Committee on Finance of the French Senate Vincent Eble, senators Rene Danesi, Florence Lazard and Marie Mercier.
