French parliamentary delegation to visit Belarus in 2019

MINSK, 29 December (BelTA) – A parliamentary delegation led by head of the France-Belarus friendship group of the Senate of France Charles Guene will visit Minsk in 2019, BelTA learned from the press service of the Council of the Republic.

Belarusian and French MPs are set to discuss a wide range of issues related to bilateral cooperation. “Special attention will be on strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation and the role of parliamentary dimension in the expansion of trade and economic ties and investment partnership between the two countries,” the press service said.

The visit will be held on Belarus' invitation and will promote the implementation of the agreements reached during the meeting of Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich with President of the Senate of France Gerard Larcher in November 2018.

As BelTA reported earlier, a working group on cooperation with France in the Council of the Republic and the France-Belarus friendship group in the Senate of France were set up in 2018 for the first time in the history of the Belarusian-French relations. The groups are working to expand cooperation between twin cities of Belarus and France, establish direct contacts between businessmen, develop bilateral relations in investment, agricultural, environmental and other areas.
