FM: Belarus is resuming foreign political cooperation

MINSK, 4 August (BelTA) – Belarus has been gradually boosting foreign political and economic cooperation which was limited due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told the media in the Council of the Republic on 4 August during Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko's annual address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly.

Vladimir Makei stressed that the pandemic had affected contacts with foreign colleagues. Nevertheless, regular video conferences were held to discuss important issues of cooperation.

According to the minister, the decision to combat the coronavirus infection without stopping the manufacturing process was the right one. “We need to fight against the pandemic, but this should be done carefully, without any production stoppages,” the minister said.

In his words, Belarus has been intensifying contacts with foreign colleagues. “We have resumed contacts, including one-on-one meetings,” Vladimir Makei said.
