Expert opines on Belarus' response to S-300 missile incident

MINSK, 30 December (BelTA) – In a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel Russian military observer, retired colonel Viktor Baranets gave his take on Belarus' response to the falling of the S-300 missile on the territory of Belarus.

Answering the question whether critical facilities in Belarus may be hit by the Ukrainian military, Viktor Baranets noted: “Neither Kiev nor anyone else can guarantee that these facilities will not be hit. Indeed, apparently, it is not only about the lack of professionalism, but also about some political considerations. I do not rule out that. It seems to me that we need to consider the idea that Belarus is being provoked.”

The expert described Belarus' response in the following way: “Belarus' response should be regarded as restrained, objective and very patient right now. Do not inflame Belarus: it steers clear of you and you should do the same.”

“In this case, the missile did not fall on Belarus, it fell on the territory of the Union State. So far, neither Kyiv nor Western politicians and generals have taken this into consideration. They still do not understand what happened in our Union State. We actually have common armed forces. This should also be borne in mind. I am not playing things up. I am not talking about other allies - it's not the time yet,” Viktor Baranets said.
