Estonia's foreign minister to visit Belarus

MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) – Estonia's minister of foreign affairs is expected to visit Belarus in the near future, Belarus' Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko said at a function held on 20 February to mark Estonia's Independence Day, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus and Estonia have a long and successful history of cooperation in various areas. I am pleased to note that the two countries have recently intensified political cooperation, which will surely be confirmed during the upcoming visit of the Estonian minister of foreign affairs to Belarus. We have good prospects to expand trade and economic relations, taking into account the interest of business of the two countries,” said Oleg Kravchenko.

According to the deputy minister, Belarus sees significant potential in investment cooperation and the use of Estonia's experience in digitalization and information technology. Cooperation between IT-communities of Belarus and Estonia is becoming deeper and more promising. Broad opportunities are also opening up in the development of the transport and logistics sector and the use of Estonian ports for handling Belarusian cargo.

Oleg Kravchenko also emphasized the development of scientific, regional, cultural and sports ties between the two countries. He expressed confidence that the launch of a direct flight between Minsk and Tallinn would help boost bilateral contacts as well.
