Different evaluations by Polish leaders of same police actions in Poland, Belarus pointed out

MINSK, 14 December (BelTA) – Belarus has never interfered in domestic affairs of Poland. Yet evaluations by Polish leaders of the same law enforcement actions in Poland and Belarus differ greatly, BelTA learned from Chairman of the International Affairs and National Security Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Sergei Rachkov.

The senator said: “While the number of people taking part in unauthorized rallies in Minsk gradually shrinks, rallies against Polish authorities remain strong and aggressive in the neighboring country of Poland, which has not only demonstrated a fierce interest in Belarusian affairs but takes an active part in supporting destructive actions of a certain part of Belarus' population.”

Sergei Rachkov pointed out that Polish police officers act harshly: they use physical force, tear gas, and police batons to arrest people, including MPs.

“We are no longer surprised by different evaluations by Polish leaders of the same kind of law enforcement actions in their own country and in Belarus. Over here we have unjustified use of force and violence while in Poland they have efforts to enforce and maintain order. As people say, Polish authorities have neither shame nor conscience. Meanwhile, Polish politicians haughtily claim that Poland will never look like Belarus,” Sergei Rachkov noted.

“Belarus has never interfered in domestic affairs of Poland. We expect Poland to come to its senses and to return to the path of constructive cooperation in the spirit of good neighborhood with our country,” Sergei Rachkov said.
