CSTO to advance cooperation with international organizations

MINSK, 13 April (BelTA) – Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Belarus, Belarusian First Deputy Defense Minister Viktor Gulevich met with Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Stanislav Zas in Moscow, representatives of the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.

Viktor Gulevich and Stanislav Zas exchanged opinions about the challenges and threats in the Collective Security Treaty Organization's responsibility area. They discussed results of the CSTO's work in 2020 and the tasks the organization faces in the sphere of military cooperation in the near future.

Stanislav Zas mentioned it is necessary to continue equipping the CSTO's collective rapid response forces with modern weapons, military hardware and special hardware. He noted it was also necessary to expand the organization's cooperation with international and regional organizations. The development of the dialogue with the United Nations Organization about the integration of the CSTO's peacemaking potential into the UN's peacekeeping efforts was mentioned as an example.
