MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – The CSTO Parliamentary Assembly expects to prepare a model law on information protection and cybersecurity by the autumn, Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Vyacheslav Volodin at the meeting of the Council of the CSTO PA in Minsk on 18 May, BelTA has learned.
According to Vyacheslav Volodin, nine relevant model legal acts have already been adopted in the area of information and digital security. Seven more documents are in the works.

“Today we will consider including the development of recommendations on the approximation and harmonization of national legislation in the critical information infrastructure security in the CSTO PA activity program until 2025. We expect to prepare a model law on information protection and cyber security by the autumn,” he said.
He drew attention to the need to resist attempts to interfere in domestic affairs, including information policy and political processes. “We proceed from the fact that the program of PA activities must meet the challenges of the time. It is important for all of us to count on collective mutual assistance and support,” the speaker added.

The CSTO PA supported the initiative of Belarus, which is presiding in the CSTO this year, to organize a conference on Eurasian security in Minsk in the autumn. “All international institutions, which should deal with this issue, have degraded. Instead of solving real problems, they serve the interests of one country - the United States. For our part in this situation, we need to strengthen cooperation with other countries that share our principles: mutual respect, absence of double standards, non-interference in the sovereign affairs of other states,” Vyacheslav Volodin added.
