CSTO foreign ministers call for fairer, more democratic world order

MOSCOW, 26 May (BelTA) – The foreign ministers of the Collective Security Treatment Organization (CSTO) member states called for establishing a fairer and more democratic world order, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told journalists following the videoconference meeting of the CSTO Ministerial Council on 26 May, BelTA has learned.

“Having similar positions we have compared notes on a broad range of important global and regional matters,” Sergey Lavrov said. “We have supported the idea to establish a fairer and more democratic world order based on the universally accepted norms of international law. We have passed a joint statement confirming the CSTO commitment to the goals and principles of the UN Charter,” he noted.

The CSTO foreign ministers also adopted a statement in support of the UN Secretary General's call for a global ceasefire during the COVID-19 pandemic.
