DUSHANBE, 16 September (BelTA) – The heads of state of the Collective Security Treaty Organization passed a declaration of the CSTO Collective Security Council as a result of the summit held in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on 16 September, BelTA has learned.
Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Stanislav Zas told media the declaration expresses a serious concern about the lingering high level of threat to security and sovereignty of countries in the CSTO responsibility area. The declaration underlines the organization's resolve to put persistent efforts into reinforcing international and regional security, fair resolution of international problems on the basis of universally recognized norms and principles of international law.
The official said: “We are in favor of bolstering the effectiveness of multilevel political consultations of the CSTO member states, during which coordinated collective answers to emerging challenges and threats are worked out.”
The countries will continue working together on developing the institution of the CSTO's observers and partners in order to improve the organization's external communications, enhance the organization's capability to help bolster international and regional security.
