CSTO agrees on further cooperation in Dushanbe

MINSK, 29 April (BelTA) – A Belarusian delegation headed by State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich took part in a meeting of the CSTO Committee of Secretaries of Security Councils in Dushanbe, BelTA learned from the State Secretariat of the Security Council of Belarus.

The Chairman of the CSTO Collective Security Council, Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon addressed the event. He stressed: “We attach a paramount importance to cooperation between countries in the Collective Security Treaty Organization. Effective work of security council secretaries is an important part of our joint efforts to achieve our goals."

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on current challenges and threats to collective security. The meeting adopted decisions to ensure further coordination of the activities of the member states in military and political sphere and agreed on the agenda of the CSTO statutory bodies. The parties paid special attention to schedule of equipment provision and joint training of forces and means of the collective security system.

The Belarusian delegation stressed the importance of developing joint measures to prevent destructive influence and possible destabilization of the situation in the member states by unfriendly countries and noted the need to coordinate efforts in ensuring biological and information security.

On the sidelines of the meeting State Secretary of the Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich held bilateral meetings with the heads of delegations of Kazakhstan, Russia and Tajikistan to discuss topical issues of cooperation between the offices of the security councils.
