COVID-19 response to be high on agenda of CIS summit

MINSK, 19 May (BelTA) – Coronavirus response measures will be high on the agenda of the CIS Heads of Government Council session on 29 May, Permanent Plenipotentiary Representative of Uzbekistan to the CIS statutory and other bodies Nasirdjan Yusupov told journalists on 19 May, BelTA has learned.

“The session of the CIS Heads of Government Council will focus on the coronavirus pandemic. We need to coordinate our efforts and adopt common approaches to prevention of the spread of COVID-19. Each CIS country has gained some experience it can share,” Nasirdjan Yusupov noted.

All in all, the draft agenda of the session in includes 15 items concerning cooperation of the CIS states in economy, transport, construction, power industry, tourism, sport, culture, security, as well as youth cooperation. The session will be held via videoconferencing. “The coronavirus is dictating its own terms. However, this will by no means affect the performance of the council and the range of items on the agenda,” Nasirdjan Yusupov added.
