MINSK, 2 March (BelTA) - A group of observers from the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (IPA) monitored the parliamentary elections in Tajikistan, BelTA learned from the CIS IPA press service.
On 1 March, the observers already visited a number of polling stations and monitored the sealing of the ballot boxes and the beginning of the voting process. During the day, representatives of parliaments from eight countries (Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Uzbekistan), and representatives of the Secretariat of the CIS IPA Council visited the district election commissions and polling stations located in different regions of Tajikistan.
The CIS IPA observers worked at polling stations in Dushanbe, the city of Hisor, Vahdat and Tursunzoda districts and settlements in Khatlon Region. In addition, the elections abroad were monitored in Baku (Azerbaijan), Minsk (Belarus), Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) and St. Petersburg (Russia).
The main task of monitoring was to gather the maximum amount of information to prepare balanced and objective findings on the election observation, the press service said.
