CIS Inter-parliamentary Assembly to hold session on 26-27 November

MINSK, 25 November (BelTA) - The autumn session of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (IPA) will be held on 26-27 November, BelTA learned from the CIS IPA press service.

The Taurus Palace will host a video conference of the Council of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly on 27 November. The event will be attended by the heads of parliamentary delegations of the CIS countries and representatives of CIS bodies and international organizations. The chairperson of the CIS IPA Council, the chairperson of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia Valentina Matviyenko will preside over the meeting from the Reading Room of the Taurus Palace,” the press service noted.

One of the central topics of the meeting will be the legislative support of the measures taken in CIS states to tackle the COVID-19 pandemic. The MPs will also discuss the state and prospects for the economic integration and its regulatory and legal support in the Eurasian space, preparations for the observation of elections in the CIS countries in 2021, and the setting up of the Expert Council on Science and Education under the CIS IPA.

The 51st plenary session of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly will be held via a video link on the same day. It will be attended by parliamentary delegations of the CIS states. The plenary session will be broadcast live on the official website of the CIS IPA.

The MPs will consider the drafts of the Convention on the Preservation of CIS Cultural Heritage, the Model Labor Code for the CIS countries, the Model Electoral Code for the CIS States, and a number of draft model laws: On refugees, On engineering, On shared construction of real estate, On the environmental safety of transportation of petroleum products through pipelines, On the development and protection of mountainous territories, On parliamentary control, On school sports, On reparations for victims of crime.

A day earlier, on 26 November, the Taurus Palace will host meetings of the CIS IPA's permanent commissions: on economy and finance; social policy and human rights; culture, information, tourism and sports.
