MINSK, 24 December (BelTA) – The CIS foreign ministries discussed cooperation within the framework of UNESCO via videoconferencing on 24 December, BelTA learned from the CIS Executive Committee.
Participants of the ministerial consultations discussed various aspects of activities and promising areas of cooperation between the CIS member states within UNESCO. The parties stressed the importance of adopting a common stance on reforms and management of UNESCO, the key budget and administrative issues, and elections to its governing and other bodies.
“The agenda of the consultations also included restoration of world heritage sites damaged in armed conflicts, mass media and freedom of expression, UNESCO's anti-doping program, recommendations for the ethics of artificial intelligence and for open science,” the press service said.
The participants of the meeting also spoke about prospects for cooperation between the CIS Executive Committee and UNESCO. Plans are in place to hold the next ministerial consultations on cooperation within UNESCO in Moscow in September 2021.
