CIS chief: Belarus' electoral process was up to par

MINSK, 18 November (BelTA) – The parliamentary elections in Belarus were conducted very well, Sergei Lebedev, Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee, CIS Executive Secretary, the head of the CIS mission to monitor the parliamentary elections in Belarus, told reporters on 18 November, BelTA has learned.

“The electoral process was administered very well,” Sergei Lebedev said. The mission chief noted that the CIS observers reported an insignificant number of irregularities, those were mostly technical matters. “These rare incidents cannot affect the voting outcome,” he emphasized.

The CIS mission deployed the biggest number of observers – 475 representatives of eight members of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
