Chinese Embassy in Belarus: U.S. attacks on other countries are unjustified

MINSK, 2 April (BelTA) – Attacks of the United States on other countries are groundless and unjustified, the Chinese Embassy in Belarus said, BelTA has learned.

“On 30 March, the U.S. Department of State published the 2020 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices that focuses on the main targets of political attacks of the United States, including China, Belarus, Russia, Myanmar, and Venezuela. Speaking about China, the report noted that the Chinese authorities committed genocide and crimes against humanity in respect to ethnic minority groups in Xinjiang. These claims have nothing to do with reality. This shows the obvious aim of the United States to divide the society in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region,” the embassy said.

This Chinese region is home to around 20 million Uyghur people. Foreign powers aim to use them to destabilize the situation in China. “The aim of the American ‘well-wishers' is to spark unrest among the Uyghur population and put the Chinese Central Government under pressure from inside the country,” the embassy noted.

“The allegations of the so-called ‘genocide' in Xinjiang are just another attempt of the United States to weaken China from the inside. In 2010-2018, the population of Xinjiang grew by 2.5 million to 12.7 million people. The increase in the Uyghur population was 12.5 times bigger than the growth rate of the Han population,” the Chinese embassy said. “No one will be able to destabilize the situation there. China is vehemently against any interference, including masked by human rights protection,” the embassy added.
