China, Belarus unite efforts against COVID-19

MINSK, 24 March (BelTA) – China and Belarus have united efforts against the novel coronavirus infection COVID-19, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to Belarus Cui Qiming told BelTA.

“China and Belarus have recently been closely cooperating to combat the new coronavirus pandemic. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko immediately sent a letter to Chinese President Xi Jinping to express support due to the novel virus outbreak in China and instructed the Belarusian government to send humanitarian aid to China,” the diplomat said.

Cui Qiming stressed that China is grateful to Belarus for assistance and support.

Since the first coronavirus cases were registered in Belarus, China has been supporting the country's preventive and control measures. Cui Qiming said that medical experts from China and Belarus, as well as from other countries have held videoconferences twice to discuss measures to stop the spread of the pneumonia epidemic caused by a newly discovered coronavirus. In his words, Belarus and China have exchanged experience and best practices in the area.

Cui Qiming is convinced that mutual support during such a difficult period reflects a high level of the Belarusian-Chinese relations and friendship between the two nations.
