MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) – The Belaya Rus public association is seriously considering the possibility of becoming a political party, head of the public association Oleg Romanov told sb.by commenting on the bill on political parties that was recently passed by MPs, BelTA informs.
“The law allows public associations to transform into political parties. As for our public association, we are seriously considering the possibility of creating a political party,” Oleg Romanov said.
According to him, Belarus does not need many political parties, as there is a risk of them turning into dwarf parties that “will get bogged down with inter-party squabbles”.
The chairman of the Belaya Rus public association believes that there should be several strong parties in the country that will interact with each other and instead of pursuing their own interests, they will serve the interests of the Belarusian people and the state.
