MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – European politicians have become clowns and freaks. Deputy Chairman of the International Affairs Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus Oleg Gaidukevich made the statement as he commented on provocations of the Ukrainian delegation during a speech by the commission's Chairman Andrei Savinykh at a session of the General Committee on Political Affairs and Security of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA), BelTA has learned.

Oleg Gaidukevich said: “International structures were created back in the day in order to offer a dialogue venue where people with different points of view, even diametrically opposed ones could hear out each other and listen for the good of the entire mankind. By the way, the United Nations Organization was established with these principles in mind. Regretfully, we see that these institutions are now degrading. When the Belarusian delegation made a speech at the OSCE PA session yesterday, some European politicians became clowns and freaks, who focus on their own PR instead of tackling problems of war and peace in good faith.”

The MP noted it was revolting to look at it. “Because a genuine war is in progress and people are dying every day. Instead of sitting down at the negotiation table just like Belarus and our delegation say and working out some solutions, they keep supplying weapons, they started a war, and dare stage circus performances, thus discrediting international organizations and themselves. What arguments can they present after Belarus presented its stance? They have nothing to argue with. This is why they employ rudeness and self-PR in response,” Oleg Gaidukevich noted.

“Yet the Belarusian voice, our truth can be heard. Those, who wanted to hear it, did. It is good that we make speeches and present our stance,” Oleg Gaidukevich stated.

A Belarusian delegation led by Chairman of the International Affairs Commission of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Andrei Savinykh is taking part in a session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE PA). On 23 February the Belarusian delegation took part in events of the first day of the 22nd winter session of the assembly: a joint session of three general committees, sessions of the General Committee on Political Affairs and Security, the General Committee on Economic Affairs, Science, Technology, and Environment, the General Committee on Democracy, Human Rights, and Humanitarian Questions. Despite provocations staged by the Ukrainian delegation Andrei Savinykh managed to make a speech at the session of the General Committee on Political Affairs and Security.
