MOSCOW, 2 September (BelTA) – European politicians have changed a lot over the course of one month. Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei made the relevant statement after meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in Moscow on 2 September, BelTA has learned.
Vladimir Makei said: “Fascinating transformations happen to some European partners of ours. Long before the presidential election when we met and discussed various, shall we say, prospects of development of the situation, we were absolutely of the same opinion that any street manifestations, any violent demonstrations will push our relations backwards by many years. Everyone agreed that it must not be allowed to happen. Unfortunately, things happened. And now our partners call for some peaceful and quiet revolutions.”
Vladimir Makei stressed that any revolution always results in bloodshed. “We are categorically against any revolutionary shocks, moreover, shocks in streets of our cities,” he said. “We believe that only calm, evolutionary progress will result in the establishment of peace, tranquility, and stability in the country and the society.”
“Russia and Belarus share a common understanding of the ongoing processes,” Vladimir Makei added.
