Belarusian FM meets with Turkish counterpart

MINSK, 15 April (BelTA) – Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei met with Turkish Minister for Foreign Affairs Mevlut Cavusoglu to discuss the preparation of the official visit of Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko to the Republic of Turkey, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The ministers highlighted the constructive nature and gradual development of the Belarusian-Turkish cooperation and welcomed positive trends in the bilateral trade.

The ministers exchanged the information on the implementation of the action plan for the development of cooperation between Belarus and Turkey which was signed by the foreign ministers in November 2016. The parties emphasized the similarity of Belarus and Turkey's approaches to the key issues on the international agenda, the effective interaction between the two countries in international organizations, including mutual support of nominations in the UN elective bodies.

As it has been reported, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko is set to go to Turkey on an official visit on 16 April. The head of state is scheduled to hold talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. On the same day Ankara will host a meeting of business circles of the two countries to discuss continued cooperation and new projects in various areas.
