MOSCOW, 17 May (BelTA) - The Western policy of arm-twisting is detrimental to the whole world, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Aleinik said following the talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow on 17 May, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus has always consistently advocated the peaceful resolution of conflicts and a fair and mutually respectful dialogue. However, we have to admit that our Western partners do not want to hear us. They continue, paradoxically, a policy that is disastrous for themselves and detrimental to the whole world. By and large, this is the policy of arm-twisting," Sergei Aleinik said.

The minister explained that he means "the illegal sanctions, pouring fuel on the military fire in the center of Europe, and the complete breakdown of law and order."

"We are not alone. Both Belarus and Russia have a lot of friends in this world, including strong, stable ones, who, I am convinced, will become the centers of a multipolar world," the Belarusian Foreign Minister said.

According to him, one of the key items on the agenda of the talks was the multi-pronged defense of the Union State, coordination of the work to counter the extreme pressure from the West. Sergei Aleinik noted that this work is bearing fruit. In this regard, he mentioned an article in The Guardian's latest issue that laments the ‘stark' costs of the sanctions against Belarus and Russia for the West.
