Belarusian candidacy for CSTO secretary general position submitted

MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – The Foreign Ministers Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) has submitted the candidacy of State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Stanislav Zas for appointment as the CSTO secretary general. Kyrgyz Minister of Foreign Affairs Chingiz Aidarbekov mentioned it during the session of the CSTO Foreign Ministers Council on Wednesday, TASS has learned.

Chingiz Aidarbekov said: “According to the proposal, Stanislav Zas is supposed to assume the office of the CSTO secretary general on 1 January 2020.”

The decision to appoint Stanislav Zas CSTO secretary general will have to be made during the session of the CSTO Heads of State Council in autumn.
