MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomes the decision of the U.S. authorities to prolong the suspension of sanctions against Belarusian petrochemical companies for a year and a half, Anatoly Glaz, Head of the Information and Digital Diplomacy Office, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, told BelTA.
“At every level Belarus has always stated that sanctions are unacceptable and counter-productive in foreign politics. We convey our position during regular contacts with our U.S. counterparts. We have not reached full understanding on the matter yet. At the same time, the sanctions against Belneftekhim and its companies have been suspended for a year and a half, not just a year as it was the case last time. This indicates certain forward movement,” Anatoly Glaz said.
“We hope that this decision will become another step towards the abolition of all sanctions and other restrictions in trade with Belarus,” the official representative of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.More about Politics
