MINSK, 14 June (BelTA) – Belarus counts on continuous, sustainable and constructive parliamentary cooperation with Sweden, Ambassador of Belarus to Sweden Dmitry Mironchik said at the meeting with Riksdag Speaker Andreas Norlen and other high-ranking representatives of the Swedish parliament, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in Sweden.
“The head of the Belarusian diplomatic mission expressed hope that the first parliamentary contacts that took place in March this year will pave the way for continuous and constructive cooperation between the Riksdag and the new composition of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus,” the embassy noted.
Dmitry Mironchik informed the Swedish MPs about the recent developments in Belarus and the situation in the region, and about the progress in bilateral relations over the past year after full diplomatic contacts between Minsk and Stockholm were restored.
The ambassador emphasized that in 2018 the bilateral trade expanded by over a quarter. Swedish companies, including giants like IKEA, demonstrate a sincere interest in our market. “It was noted that although the two countries do not see eye to eye on some issues of the bilateral agenda, Minsk and Stockholm find common ground on a number of matters, like fight against human trafficking and strengthening of regional security,” the embassy added.
Taking part in the meeting with the Swedish MPs were also ambassadors of Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova and Russia.More about Politics
