MINSK, 5 March (BelTA) – Belarus calls for efficient implementation of agreements within the framework of integration associations, Belarus' Deputy Prime Minister Igor Petrishenko told reporters following a session hosted by the head of state on 5 March, BelTA has learned.
“Being an open economy, Belarus seeks to promote efficient cooperation within integration associations. We have consistently supported active, and mostly importantly, efficient implementation of all the agreements as part of integration associations,” Igor Petrishenko said.
Top on the agenda in Belarus is cooperation with Russia within the framework of the Union State. Therefore, the participants of today's session discussed in detail the implementation of the Union State Treaty: the matters that have reached fruition, the matters that are in progress and the mechanisms to step up joint efforts to achieve the goals agreed on.
“This pertains to creating comfortable social and economic conditions for our citizens. We discussed the entire spectrum of social and economic matters, namely how to increase the efficiency of institutional bodies, how to tackle some additional issues to make cooperation in the manufacturing industry more efficient, how to remove obstacles that arise regularly when it comes to supplies of our products to the market of the Russian Federation,” he said.
Igor Petrishenko recalled that Belarus and Russia set up a working group in order to review progress in the implementation of the Union State Treaty and to charter approaches to closer integration. “The working group has never sat in its entirety. However, some group members from Belarus and Russia have held individual consultations. Thus, everything is in our hands, in our power. I think the work will gain momentum in the nearest future,” the vice premier noted.
