Belarus, Ukraine discuss preparations for Forum of Regions in Grodno

MINSK, 22 April (BelTA) – Belarus Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei had a phone conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Kuleba to discuss bilateral cooperation, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The ministers considered the 2020 schedule of official events and discussed the organization of the 3rd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine in Grodno. “The parties stressed the importance of advancing active and meaningful cooperation between the two foreign ministries,” the press service noted.

Vladimir Makei and Dmitry Kuleba also commended effective cooperation between Belarus and Ukraine in helping their citizens return home in the wake of the difficult humanitarian situation caused by the closure of borders.

BelTA reported earlier that the 3rd Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine is set to take place in Grodno in October 2020. Taking part in the forum will be representatives of government authorities, business circles, and local authorities of the two countries. The forum aims to showcase the economic potential of regions of Belarus and Ukraine and promote new initiatives and forms of interregional cooperation in economy, investment, culture, science and technology.

The 1st Forum of Regions of Belarus and Ukraine was held in Gomel in October 2018. Ukraine's Zhitomir hosted the second edition of the forum.
