Belarus-Türkiye inter-parliamentary contacts praised as trustworthy

MINSK, 3 March (BelTA) – Inter-parliamentary contacts between Belarus and Türkiye are trustworthy, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko said as he met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Türkiye to Belarus Mustafa Özcan, BelTA has learned.

“We view inter-parliamentary contacts, which we have developed, only positively. They are of a trusting nature. The former speaker of the Turkish parliament visited Belarus in 2018. Then there was our visit to Türkiye. We held talks. I would like to say that we have very good relations with the current speaker of your country's parliament as well. We have a good example of interaction and consultations between international affairs commissions. We also had such a meeting in Belarus. The chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Turkish Parliament visited our country. We held consultations on a number of issues,” Vladimir Andreichenko said.

The two countries also support each other in international parliamentary organizations. “I want to say that we do not have such an example of cooperation with other parliaments as we have with Türkiye,” the speaker emphasized. “You will have elections this year. As far as we know, the presidential and parliamentary elections are scheduled for 14 May. We hope that this good tradition of friendly relations, supporting each other, will continue,” he added.
