Belarus-Switzerland mutual interest in constructive dialogue reaffirmed

MINSK, 20 April (BelTA) – While on a working trip to Switzerland Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei met with Ignazio Cassis, Vice President of the Federal Council, Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs of the Swiss Confederation, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

Vladimir Makei and Ignazio Cassis discussed the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, including the implementation of the agreements reached as a result of Ignazio Cassis' visit to Belarus in February 2020. Ignazio Cassis informed Vladimir Makei about the Swiss approach to events in Belarus.

Vladimir Makei talked at length about the logic the Belarusian government employed during last year's events. He informed Ignazio Cassis about a broad public dialogue in Belarus and work on amending the Constitution.

The sides exchanged opinions about matters concerning fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and opinions about regional security. Mutual interest was reaffirmed in preserving the constructive dialogue at various levels, in resolving problems and in restoring the dynamics of development of Belarus-Switzerland relations as soon as possible.
